Family Room Modernization in Brier

The owners of this lovely Brier home wished to modernize the family room and also save some space at the same time. The first picture shows the fireplace as the builder installed it.

After a couple of rounds of design modifications the final design was chosen. The biggest concern to the homeowner was heating the lower level of the house. A Kozy Thief River Falls fireplace was installed by Sundance Energy that took care of the heating. The next issues were to have the wires hidden for the TV and to find a mantel that matched the theme of the wall. For this a simple box mantel was chosen and painted Satin black to match the colors of the TV and the front of the Kozy fireplace. The most difficult part of the project was to hide the electronics in a tasteful way and yet make them accessible. If you look closely, under the TV you may notice the door that covers a cavity that houses the DVD and cable box.

Burien Kitchen Refresh

This lovely home in Burien needed one last major refresh - the kitchen. The look dated from the early 80’s and the homeowner wanted a more modern theme that blended better with the modern look of the home’s interior.

The cabinets were in good condition and the floor had recently been changed. After listening to the customer, some design suggestions were offered. The customer chose Pental Chroma Quartz countertops with custom painted maple doors. A new undermount Kohler sink and Moen faucet rounded out the counter top look.

The range hood was upgraded from a bathroom fan to a lovely ceiling mounted glass hood that can efficiently and quietly manage the steam and odors genereated by the range.

Issaquah Fireplace

After dealing with a leaking chimney for the winter, this Issaquah customer wanted to dry out and have some real warmth in the family room. They wanted to eliminate the dated brick look and go with a more modern, clean face design. This picture shows some of the damage uncovered from excess water penetrating through the chimney brick.

This picture was taken before the customer was able to hang the new TV above the fireplace or have the new carpets installed. The simple modern mantel blends in nicely and will protect the TV from heat.

Redmond Master Bath

This Redmond home was purchased by the current owners a few years back and one thing that stood out was blue theme throughout. The master bath and bedroom are some of the last areas in the home to see a new face. Here you can see the master before a facelift.

The master bathroom has taken on a whole new personality with a change in plumbing fixtures and accents. The rectangular MTI air tub will be very soothing after a long day in the office and the quartz decking will never need sealing. Rectangular undermount sinks add a nice finishing touch and tie the vanity to the tub area. The final necessary amenity was the heated tile floor which tied into the an early remodel of the master watercloset seen through the pocket door.

Mercer Island Mother-In-Law Kitchen

This was a fun and challenging project: convert a Mercer Island master bedroom closet into a fully functioning kitchen. The original room was 7’ x 7’ after removing a wall and raising a support beam the final kitchen size was approximately 7’ x 9’. The final kitchen had all the features and accessories of a standard kitchen: pullout drawers, lazy susan, upper corner cabinets, organized full height pantries. The customer wanted to have a kitchen for an aging parent and thought a standalone kitchen would be best. A one of a kind granite countertop nicely accents the Moen faucet and a Kohler under mount sink.

Woodinville Bathroom Refresh

After 14 years of continuous use, the homeowners in Woodinville decided that the main bath needed to be refreshed. Since the bath was on a concrete floor one of the main reasons for remodeling was to provide a Nuheat heat mat under the tile to take the cold edge off the floor. The owners involved some green building practices by refinishing an existing vanity, keeping the large wall mirror and converting the bath closet into a custom built cabinet.

Bothell Deck Upgrade

Contemplating retirement in a couple of years, this Bothell couple decided that while the income was still there, they would like to have a new deck for entertaining family. The old deck was quite large, approximately 1300 square feet, and in bad disrepair. Thinking about the future and aging-in-place, the couple decided that one level was preferred. The final outcome from several planning sessions was a 360 square foot deck with two staircases and under deck storage. As with any project, there are a lot of factors to keep in mind. On this project, the owners decided to trade maintenance for some additional enhancements: Cable railing LED deck lighting and enclosed storage.

Seattle Fireplace and Flat Panel

A Seattle customer requested a fireplace in the living room with the ability to have a flat panel TV above the fireplace. We designed a hidden compartment above the fireplace to house the Blue Ray player and the cable box.
